Down in the depths of the sea
Lies, in ambush, the lonely kraken
Captive to monotony and longs to be free
With skin, the colour of bracken
Its very name breathes fear in men
And with every gasp of breath
With a sly movement, leaves its den
Bringing with it the essence of death
A banquet of fish a single meal
Or something better when fortunes favour
Dragged away by tentacles like an eel
And suckers, to silence the saver
As old as life, a bad omen of luck
The poor solo beast, stuck in the muck.
